I NEED DRAWING POINTERS / TECHNICAL DIRECTION

Hi, I mostly just take pictures and I'm slowly getting better at that. But I just started Drawing again and I think I am improving at a decent rate. I just need to know specifics and was wondering if anyone knows where to get the best direction? I cant afford to take any classes or I would already be in them. If you can drop links to websites or just give me direction, suggestions, ideas to play with that will help me become more proficient I would most appreciate it!

The biggest thing about this is that someone I know lost a friend. He was murdered about a year ago and they recently caught the killer. She has asked me to draw a picture of them together and I really want to do it for her, but I want to make sure it is good. I'm not charging her for the drawing though I know it will be a lot of hours of my personal time to do it right. I just want to give her something special to remember him by.

Please help me however you can.
